About ILC

Continuation of the adult Tamil language and Tamil Arts programme of Tamil Education Service Switzerland, ILC offers a range of Tamil Language, Arts and Cultural adult education programmes worldwide.

Tamil Education Service Switzerland (TESS) offers Tamil language courses for children ranging from Kinder Garden (KG) to grade 9, equivalent to secondary school level, as part of the HSK (Mother Language and Culture) education programs administered by Cantonal Education Departments.

In response to the considerable demand for Tamil language and cultural education, additional courses have been provided for adults, specifically Grade 10 since 2003, Grade 11 since 2016, and Grade 12 since 2017. These courses aim to enhance proficiency in Tamil language and prepare both current and prospective Tamil teachers. Up to this point, 3740 students have completed Grade 10 (2003 – 2023). From 2016 to the present day 1262 students have finished their studies in Grade 11 and 1185 students in Grade 12.

In order to continue offering these adult education courses and establish a Bachelor’s Degree program in Tamil language, as well as Tamil Arts and Culture, the members of TESS have founded the Institute of Languages and Culture (ILC). ILC provides a range of higher education courses in Tamil Language, Tamil Arts and Culture worldwide.
